About the AVP

As a documentary producer, I strive to produce and support projects that educate, entertain, AND empower the people who watch (or in this case read). Teaching someone is important, but making that person feel like what they learned can change the world is something incredible. I am not saying that this is something that I have mastered, but it is one of my goals to remind people that each and every one of us can make a positive difference by taking one small step and making one small change in our lives.

With that said, I want to start this blog with a focus on a cause that is near and dear to me- wildlife- because I love animals and because they cannot speak for themselves. I believe that if they go, we go, which means that if they thrive, so can we.

As you may have guessed, I like to watch televisioin shows and movies about animals. I often think about what really makes us different because I think we are more alike than some people may be comfortable admitting. The most notable difference that I can think of is our ability to share and document learning in text, audio recordings, and my favorite, film & video. Animals can only teach those who are living in the same time and place. We, on the other hand, are fortunate to be able to save future generations time and energy by passing on what we learned even when we are no longer here.

I learned a lot about wildlife when I was filming ANIMAL CRACKERS, the first feature I produced as part of my pet project, WADU (Wildlife & Animal Documentaries Unleashed). I was fortunate to work with many dedicated and knowledgeable keepers and wildlife experts from a number of great Bay Area based organizations including Ano Nuevo (reserve), The Marine Mammal Center (rehab facility), Safari West (park and preserve), Lindsay Wildlife Museum, and Coyote Point Wildlife Museum. I wanted to create a wildlife documentary that blended wildlife facts with fantasy from the animals’ perspective to make learning about animals and wildlife fun.  So stay tuned for some factoids about animals living with us and in the wild.
